About Arcfield

Eight sparkies, five vans, zero mystery

Jamie Woods and Tess Ngata started Arcfield in 2014 with a laminated sheet of prices and one van with a dodgy starter motor. The prices are still published. The van has been retired with honours.

The founders

Fifteen years on the tools, allergic to messy switchboards. Runs the new-build and renovation crews, and still takes the odd 2am fault call.

The reason the quotes are fixed and the callbacks happen. Runs service work and the apprentice programme — two of our sparkies started as her apprentices.

How we work

  • CoC on every job

A Certificate of Compliance isn't an upsell — it's the law, and it's your proof the work is safe. Ours arrives by email before the invoice does.

  • Fixed quotes that stay fixed

The quote is the invoice. If we find something unexpected mid-job, work stops until you've approved the change in writing.

  • Tidy or it isn't finished

Drop sheets down, dust vacuumed, offcuts gone. The job's not done while there's evidence we were there.

  • Apprentices, properly trained

Two apprentices on the crew, always supervised, never left to solo your switchboard. That's how trades are supposed to work.

On the record

  • Registered Electricians — EWRB
  • Master Electricians member
  • Certificate of Compliance (CoC) issued on every job
  • Arcfield Electrical Limited · NZBN 9429049876543
  • Proud sponsors of the Selwyn U13 rugby team — the van wash fundraiser is real and it is chaotic.

The reviews write themselves

The price on the website was the price on the invoice. Switchboard done in a day, every circuit labelled, and they vacuumed. I didn't know sparkies vacuumed.
Rachel · Halswell
EV charger quoted, installed and signed off inside a week. The load management thing they insisted on has meant zero tripped breakers — unlike my neighbour's install.
Mike · Rolleston
Power went out at 11pm with a newborn in the house. Tess talked me through checking the RCD over the phone first to save the call-out fee. It fixed it. Who does that?
Aroha · Papanui

No power? Burning smell? RCD won't reset?

The fault line answers 24/7. After-hours call-out is $189 including the first hour — told to you on the phone, before anyone gets in a van.
